CCSS (Cambridge Centre for Sixth-form Studies)...
CCSS offers a unique and individual approach to learning, building a relationship of mutual respect between students and staff and developing self-confidence within each student. We are an independent college located close to the city centre of this world famous city .
The teaching at CCSS is a collaborative and shared learning experience, which fosters focus and motivation, and creates a very productive and exciting schooling environment and experience for every student at the College. The informality and strength of working relationships lead to a bond of loyalty between students and staff, and the trust and independence that students have at the College give them freedom to make the right choices and decisions for them in their learning.
CCSS offers one and two-year A-Level courses, and one-year GCSE courses. A full and flexible GCSE curriculum is offered and at A-Level there are close to 30 subjects to choose from.
Classes at CCSS are less than half the average for the independent sector in the UK and much smaller than in state schools. The average class size at CCSS is just six pupils.
Personal tutors develop effective relationships with students and their parents. They meet each of their students weekly to talk over academic matters, such as time management, work output and preparing the strongest possible university application, as well as any issues of personal concern for the student.
Careers guidance and preparation for university
CCSS pride themselves in being a college offering a ‘pathway to university’ giving their students support and guidance to ensure that they are well prepared in all aspects of the university application, from personal statement writing and interview practicing to university visits and careers workshops. Work experience can also be arranged to strengthen and enhance university applications.
The success of the CCSS students means that the great majority go on to university in the UK or elsewhere, with many enjoying success at Cambridge, Oxford, LSE and other top universities in subjects ranging from international business to law and medicine.
Extensive range of sports and activities
Our extra-curricular programme includes an extensive range of activities, sports, trips and visits that students can be involved in. One of the benefits of being in Cambridge is the amount of clubs and societies to join and take advantage of.
CCSS has its own boarding houses all located a short distance from each other and our teaching buildings. Our boarding houses are known for being friendly and comfortable places for our students to live and work in.
Cambridge is a truly amazing city. In addition to the amazing old and modern buildings of the University of Cambridge, there’s the river, the museums and art galleries, and shops and cafes. The city is less than 1 hr by train from central London and London Stansted airport.
